About Eloy Trevino

Eloy Trevino, 22, is from Carrollton, TX, currently studying at Baylor University under Wiff Rudd and Mark Schubert. He has been a member of the Baylor Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Wayne Fisher Jazz Ensemble. Eloy is active in chamber music, performing in jazz combos and his brass quintet, Brassical Quintessence. He has attended the 2024 Round Top Festival Institute, 2025 Chosen Vale Trumpet Seminar, and 2025 Bay View Brass Intensive. Eloy has performed with the New World Symphony (Miami, FL) as a substitute musician and served as the 3rd Trumpet in the Waco Symphony Orchestra for the 2025-26 season.

He has been a frequent competitor in the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) solo/ensemble/military divisions and International Trumpet Guild (ITG) excerpt competitions. As a member of the Baylor “Gold” Trumpet Ensemble (Trumpets Zonino), he received 3rd place in the 2025 NTC Small Ensemble division and 1st Place in the Chamber Music division of the 2025 ITG Ryan Anthony Memorial Competition. His brass quintet, Brassical Quintessence, held a recital in Fort Worth as a part of the CMFSW2 chamber series and received its 2025 “Award of Excellence.”

Outside of his performance career, Eloy is a devoted teacher and learner. Having received a bachelor's degree in music education, Eloy is well-experienced in brass pedagogy and rehearsal planning. One of his favorite things to do in music is coaching chamber groups, an experience he has refined through coaching opportunities at the Baylor Band Camps and the Bay View Brass Intensive. His colleagues and mentors hold Eloy in high regard, which has been reflected in his reception of the 2026 Presser Foundation Undergraduate Scholar Award, recognizing Eloy's commitment to his academic studies, performance ability, leadership, and efforts to create an inclusive environment within the Baylor School of Music.

"He is a leader and a well-respected member of our School of Music family. He is respected and liked by faculty and students alike. He works with the younger members of my ensembles,
and they look up to him for his knowledge and experience.
He is driven to excellence, and that rubs off on
everyone that he is around."

- Alex Parker, Senior Lecturer of Jazz Studies at Baylor University
